After pioneering the application of screen printing to the making of solar cells in the early 80’s , and after having been the first to implement full in line manufacturing, Baccini SpA is today leading the way with integrated Linear Motor driven Computer controlled lines were the electrodes on the two sides of the P.V. solar cells are generated, A.O.I. inspected, fired ,tested and the resulting cells sorted by performances.

As the leader in Hybrid Integrated Circuits screen printing and Laser micro-machining, Baccini SpA enjoyed the right back ground for the process of applying thick film conductive pastes to the surface of the cells. At the same time the Baccini SpA concept of compact machinery, highly productive, highly accurate and customer friendly , found a natural field of application.

Silicon made P.V. Solar cells are needed today in large volumes, with growing size and dropping thickness, made in an industrial environment were tight control on the manufacturing cost is key.

Screen Printing Machine Configurations Available

All you need to process on a cell, after C.V.D. downstream to packing for shipping. Through :
• Wafer integrity by Baccini Automatic Optical Inspection
• Surface cleaning
• Printing and drying Silver
• Baccini A.O.I for printing quality on wet paste
• Flip over and Printing and drying Silver and Aluminium on the back.
• Load on furnace
• From furnace to testing and sorting or to customer magazines.

Solar line can integrate twin table printers or rotary table printers by agreeing with the customer on a case by case basis.

A modular system , were standard modules are put in line to fit the individual process. A complex line at the command of finger tips, all via the P.C. key board.

A single electronics do control the walking beam on the entire line, the lift motion is uniform all over, the forward motion is with controlled acceleration.

Print stroke is easily adjustable from the key board. Once the optimum parameters are found they are stored on the P.C. hard disk named to a given screen. Screen breakage can be monitored with special sensors and machine stopped immediately. Paste can be automatically fed at user selected intervals or on command.

System Software

The Baccini made vertical drier. With hundreds of them in the field – from the Thick Film Hybrids experience ,it offers compact design for minimised foot print and soft drying process with indirect infrared heating. Heat profiles are tailor made to the individual customer.
